I do not go to see movies because of trailers. I choose not to go to movies because the trailers don't interest me. The worst trailers are those that only talk about how "great" the film is based on what critics are saying. One sure sign of a bad movie is when they won't show any of it.

I like trailers--in moderation. More than three before a film showing is too many. These days, given the fact that many films are too long, having five or six trailers makes for what seems like an interminable evening. Your analysis quite reasonably focuses on YouTube. Is there any way to judge the effectiveness of theatrical trailers?
