i will admit i've wondered lately if kidman has been devaluing her star power by working so much - but it's so true that it's preferable to making "prestige" projects no one sees.

as an enjoyer of hallmark christmas movies, i would say there's a related thing where people make fun of former child stars who now do lots of made for TV christmas movies (lacey chabert, danica mckellar, melissa joan hart, candice cameron bure, etc) but it's a great way to have a stable career and star in multiple projects a year as an older woman

It's so interesting that Kidman has had this career, because has she ever really had a big hit with her name first or second on the call sheet? Maybe as far as streaming television. But isn't her biggest movie, thirty years later, still Batman Forever?

Whatever the case, that's just bankability. But if you're a cinephile, there's NO WAY you can deny Kidman's career, deny that she's done the work.

While Hollywood scrambles to figure out the streaming era, Nicole Kidman has masterfully cracked the code: be everywhere, own every lane. To me, she's successfully rewriting the rules of modern stardom.

I never before thought about any of this. Not unsurprising in itself but strangely delightful to head off in a different direction for an old person. Thanks.
